Karazin popup.description2 The aim of this study was to investigate the both erythrocyte antioxidant system and heme -heme oxygenase system in development of defence mechanisms and recovery of intracellular homeostasis under effect of hemolytic agents.Subject of this investigation was heme metabolism and some parameters of antioxidant-prooxidant status of rat's heart, vessels, lungs and blood serum under effect of hemolytic agents and under coaction of hemolytic agent and NO radicals level modulator.The development of cadmium hemolytic anemia was shown to accompanied by the heme oxygenase induction and the activation of free radical processes in rat heart, vessels and lung. It can be conditioned by the heme entering to the cells of these organs from bloodstream. The increasing of heme oxygenase activity under phenylhydrazine hemolytic anemia can be caused by both the activation of free radical oxidation in rat heart and vessels owing to hypoxia, and the heme content products accumulation in rat lung.The hemin chloride administration was found to cause accumulation of the total heme and TBA-reactive products in rat blood serum and vessels. Pretreatment by N?-nitro-L-arginine didn't effect the dynamics of the total heme and TBA-reactive products accumulation. The increase of heme oxygenase activity was observed in vessels after hemin chloride administration. This effect was strengthened by N?-nitro-L-arginine pretreatment. The glycerol administration was found to cause accumulation of the total heme in rat blood serum, vessels, heart and lungs that are accompanied by increase of TBA-reactive products and protein carbonyl derivates contents. The decrease of superoxide dismutase activity and increase of heme oxygenase activity were observed too. Heme entering in vessels, heart and lungs was accompanied by heme oxygenase activity elevation. Pretreatment by L-arginine didn't effect the blood serum and vessels changes caused by glycerol injection. However in lung and heart L-arginine prevented TBA-reactive products and protein carbonyl derivates accumulation, the decrease of superoxide dismutase activity and caused the ealier heme oxygenase induction.
