This drug decreases the number of Salmonella enteritidis cell, persistent in liver and spleen, however, it doesn't ensure complete salmonella elimination from organism. The cells of studied Salmonella enteritidis var. Isatchenko strain are sensitive to chloramphenicol, and this sensitivity is increased in the presence of interferon and tilorone. Combined application of tilorone with chloramphenicol speeds up the clearance of animal organism from salmonella and allows to halve the antibiotic dosage. Tilorone decreases manifestation of some Salmonella persistent characteristic. Occurrence of hypochromic effect in the tilorone spectrum in the presence of salmonella DNA indicates of its intercalation ability that can be considered as interferon inducer action mechanism at the molecular level.
