The research objective is the theoretical investigation of diffusion-convection processes in a microfluidic channel with one (or more) band microelectrode(s) with the aim of determining the shape of the flow profile and optimization of an electrochemical protein microdetector, the results of which may be implemented in a real experiment for the detection of biomolecules and studying the living cell. To accomplish this aim, numerical methods for steady state and transient differential equations describing mass transport in a microchannel were employed along with optimization methods for the determination of the flow profile shape under different experimental conditions. The results of this research include a novel numerical approach for the investigation of steady state and transient mass transport in a microfluidic channel equipped with one or two band microelectrodes using conformal mappings; new method for the determination of the actual local flow profile in a channel on the basis of experimentally measured electrochemical currents at two band microelectrodes; geometrical parameters describing the electrode system with one or two microelectrodes in a microfluidic channel have been optimized in order to enhance speed and accuracy of the flow profile determination method; a new concept has been developed for the electrochemical detection of proteins using a microfluidic channel with two band microelectrodes. The conducted theoretical analysis yielded ranges of governing parameters corresponding to the optimal operative regimes of the detector. The research results have fundamental significance for the development of microfluidic devices and techniques. Product Description popup.authors popup.nrat_date 2020-04-02 Close
