In operation it is analysed statistical data about fires in Ukraine, the reasons of their origin, principles of security of fire safety and an estimation of fire danger of electrotechnical articles on the basis of what research problems are formulated. Are considered classes and types of cable production, their construction, operating performances, ways of making and application sphere. Taking into account it indexes of fire danger which should be normalised for cables and the wires intended for maintenance inside and outside of buildings and buildings are defined. It is determined, thatin the EU countries operations concerning introduction of new fire classification of cable production, and also new test methods on fire danger of this production which are not realised in national standards are spent.
