The object for investigation - thermoelectric air-conditioners for transport facilities. The purpose of the work - creation of scientific-technical and technological basis for increasing coefficient of performance, cooling capacity, reliability and reducing mass-dimensional characteristics of transport air-conditioners for expansion of their application in practice. Investigation methods - thermodynamics of irreversible processes, computer simulation and thermoelectric air-conditioners design methods, physical methods of experimental research. In the course of investigations, optimal technological modes for introduction of impurities when growing thermoelectric material were established, installations for synthesis and growth of semiconductor materials were modernized. Design of thermoelectric cooling modules and their fabrication technique were improved with the purpose to provide their high reliability ( lifetime at least 10 years). The possibility of using incoming air flows in vehicle motion and heat accumulating substances at the stops was established. New technique for manufacturing air heat exchange radiators was elaborated to achieve heat transfer coefficient 28% superior to analogs. Design of liquid heat exchangers was improved in order to enhance their heat-exchange properties, loss of temperature gradient between the heat carrier and heat exchange housing was reduced by 30%. Experimental breadboards of vehicular thermoelectric air-conditioners of "liquid-air" and "air-air" systems with improved coefficient of performance were elaborated, manufactured and studied. Dependence of efficiency and mass-dimensional characteristics of vehicular thermoelectric air-conditioners on the values of electric supply current and temperature difference on cooling modules was established. Based on the research performed, thermoelectric air-conditioner with cooling capacity 800 W, intended for operation under extreme ambient temperatures, was elaborated, manufactured and transferred to the customer for "Kolchuga" product.
