The aim of this work was to analyze existing melting technologies of TiAl alloys and to choose promising trends of rare-earth metals modification. The methods of study was an analysis of literature data and experiments. Main melting technologies of titanium-aluminum alloys like vacuum induction, vacuum arc, cold hearth (electron-beam, plasma-arc), electroslag were analized. Promising trends for modifying of titanium-aluminum alloys with rare-earth metals, namely, gadolinium, scandium and yttrium were selected. The results of research were applied in technologies of casting cathodes production for ion-plasma coatings deposition in vacuum and nitrogen atmosphere.
