The influence of interlaying rocks is characterized by relative deformation at the level of the protected seam. Two-dimensional statistical models have been developed, presenting separation of protected seams into three areas: without protection, with inefficient protection, and with good protection. The models are differentiated by kinds of GDP, and kinds of geo-mechanical influence (overminig or undermining). The method of determining required category of the protection efficiency includes the models and takes into account the influence of zones of high mining pressure and the influence of multiple overmining and undermining.
