A.P.Romodanov Aсаdemy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" in 1999-2009. Object of study: intramedullary spinal cord tumors. Purpose: To improve surgical treatment of patients with intramedullary spinal cord tumors, fewer postoperative complications, quality of life and reduce disability. Research methods and equipment: MRI, CT, X-rays, selective spinal angiography, intraoperative video and photography, neurological and clinical examination, electrophysiological and pathohistological, pathomorphological study. Results and novelty: 1. A study of topographic and anatomical relationships and structures of intramedullary tumors of the spinal cord, depending on the type of tumors pathohistological 2. Investigated pathomorphological and ultrastructural variations influence of intramedullary tumors of the conductors of the spinal cord and its segmental apparatus depending on the type of pathohistological tumors 3.Izucheny radiological features of the dynamics of intramedullary tumors and their effect on the structure of the spinal cord, depending on the pathohistological and pathomorphologic type of tumor growth 4. The selection of surgical approaches, depending on the topographic and anatomical type of tumor growth and their effect on spinal conductors 5. The technology for microsurgical removal of intramedullary tumors depending on their structural relationship with the conductors and the segmental apparatus of the spinal cord 6. The selection of chemotherapeutic drugs on the basis of study of individual sensitivity of tumors 7. A concept of differentiated and complex treatment of intramedullary tumors. Effectiveness of implementation: the implementation of this work has greatly improved the treatment results of patients with intramedullary tumors developed on the basis of surgical technology and established a clear algorithm of this treatment that have been adopted for widespread use in specialized medical institutions of Ukraine.
