Administration of quercetin, 17b-estradiol and its derivative compound PE0607 ameliorated glucose intolerance, insulin resistance and decreased visceral fat, triglyceride concentration and oxidative stress in ovariectomized rats with the metabolic syndrome of different genesis. Administration of levamisole and its derivative PL-308 improved the immunological homoeostasis and ameliorated insulin resistance in ovariectomized rats with the metabolic syndrome. These results confirm the perspectivity of the further study of compounds with estrogen and antioxidant activity as potential agents for the pharmacological correction of postmenopausal metabolic syndrome on the different stages of its development.
