The purpose of the work is developing of the methodological approaches for the assessment and analysis of technical, environmental and economic characteristics of СHP implementation, which are using biogas from agricultural plants and municipal solid waste landfills and open dumps for the production of electricity and heat. The main results of the work are: (a) Technology of biogas production, collection and utilization in Europe and the world is analyzed. Current status of development of production, collection and utilization technologies of biogas in Ukraine is described. Biogas energy potential in Ukraine for the implementation of cogeneration technologies is evaluated; (b) Assessment and optimization of technological cogeneration schemes of biogas utilization for the production of electricity and heat is done; (c) The main technical and economic indicators of implementation of CHP schemes for the production of electricity and heat based on biogas gas-piston engines from agricultural plants and municipal solid waste landfills and open dumps are determined. Comparison of technical and economic indicators of CHP schemes with direct biogas combustion is done; (d) Conclusion is made that energy balance of "biogas plant-CHP" system and "Landfill-CHP" system is a positive and its use is economically feasible in climatic conditions of Ukraine.
