The research results have shown that LIRA software can be successfully used for linear calculations of the stress-strain state and stability. It was realized wide experimental research of stability under external pressure on qualitative small-sized samples of the closed conical shells. Consequently new buckling features have been revealed, including the high sensitivity of critical pressure to initial imperfections of the shells form. At calculation of real constructions it is necessary to consider these imperfections that is easy realized with the considered softwares. For the first time it was made the numerical analysis of deformation and stability of the new flat composite constructions including closed and truncated conical shells and plates, thus it was defined the parametres of shells with high carrying capacity. It was determined the limits of the effective application of LIRA software.
