Purpose of the work - to make a deep analysis of the pre-condition of the becoming and development of veterinary medicine in Ukraine. The methods of investigation :chronological, systematical and analytical. When the scientific investigation of the medical(veterinary) education in Ukraine where conducted, it was set, that veterinary education in Ukraine appeared without the state support, with the help of the initiative of public, taking the money of the voluntary of different layers of society. In the end of XVIII century, the university education has become in Galichina, when in 1784 at the Lviv university the department of veterinary medicine was opened. Veterinary medicine in the South Ukraine started in 1805 with the opening of the department of animal treatment in the local university, which was lead by professor F. Pilger. The great help for the veterinary preparation was made by Kievo-Mogilanska academy, which begins from the Kiev brother school (1615). Children, who studied in this school belonged to different social layers. Afterwards, archimandrite of the Kievo-Pecherska Lavra Petro Mogila founded Lavrska school. These schools gathered in one collage, which took a name Kievo-Mogilanska academyand was reformed, taking in example some of the northern Europe colleges.It was first shown, that graduates of the Kievo-Mogilanska academy M.M. Terekhovsky and O.M. Shumlansky started the higher medical and veterinary education at Southern Europe Branch use- veterinary education.
