Subject of the investigation: the contribution of the population of the region in forming of material and spiritual culture of ancient Ukrainian State. Aim: having analized the level of material and spiritual culture of the population on meeting point the I-st - II-d milenium to reconstructact the real image of the historical development of the region amd to prove that it was on the same level with the development of the Central-Eastern Europe population; show that the medieval Ukrainian population didn't give the level of development up for their neighbours and quickly integrated in one historical and cultural expance of Europian Christian Civilization. Methods of the investigation: inductive, deductive, historical retrospective, historical comparative. Level of the development of the material and spiritual culture of the population of the Northern Left Bank of the Dniper at the turn of the I - II centuries basing on the results of the last archaeological investigations was analyzed, the real picture of historical development of the region was reconstructed and the fact of their residing on the same stage with the population of other parts of the Central-Eastern Europe was proved (and in some industrial branches they even outran Europeans). Here it is shown, that population of Ukraine in Middle Ages did not relinquish there neighbors and quickly integrated into common cultural-historical space of the European Christian Civilization. Information about the complexes of the Old Russ monuments of the city type in Baturyn, Vypovziv, Ljubetch, Sedniv and Shectovitsa in Chernihiv region and others, about several villages with big excavated square and necropolises of IX - XIII cent., which are representative for the reconstruction of the level of culture of population of the region in Middle Ages was systematized. Results of the investigations let to decide several disputable questions of the social-topographical structure of these complexes, to find out real level of the development of culture of the population. New bright evidences of wide and intensive cultural and trade contacts with different regions of Europe and Asia were received. The cave of the founder of Russ monasticism St. Venerable Antoniy was found in Lyubetch. Complex Citadel in Baturyn was rebuilt in its natural size according to the results of the investigations, models of the Castle of XI - XII cent. in Lyubetch and camp of Vikings of IX - XI cent. in Shestovitsa were prepared.
