Total environmental footprint from existing production technologies of various alloys (ferrous, alloying, modifying) has been estimated. By the calculations it was shown that reduction of iron and zinc oxides from the burdens, which contains metallurgical wastes and coal fines, produces pig iron, zinc oxide and slag (which can be used as cement). Experimental study of reduction kinetics for the elements has shown possibilities for reduction of briquettes from metallurgical wastes. Equilibrium composition of the system at reduction and heat treatment of the initial material was calculated. Elemental and component chemical composition of iron-bearing wastes of VAT MMZ was estimated. Conditions of zinc and lead extraction from metallurgical dusts according to various existing processes organization were estimated. Thermodynamic calculations for the estimation of materials and energy consumption at different ways of iron-bearing wastes utilization processes organization were done. Equilibrium composition of the system at reduction and heat treatment of the initial material was calculated. Detailed review of scientific and technical literature and commercial information about industrial technologies for the recycling of iron-bearing wastes of integrated and mini-mils is made. Best principal technological layout and apparatus facilities were chosen for the utilization process of iron-bearing wastes of VAT MMZ and for standard equipment from leading manufacturers. The economical valuation for the two most perspective organizations of the process also was done.
