These vectors contain genes encoding tuberculosis-specific immunogenic proteins. Genetically modified plants with stable (nuclear, chloroplast) or transient expression of transgenes have been obtained, and their respective features' behavior has been studied. Molecular and histochemical analyses of these plants have been carried on. The transformed plant material has been propagated for further studies. The new method of immune protection against tuberculosis has been worked-out. Transgenic carrot, cabbage, lettuce and rape can be used as "edible vaccines" for human or animal immunization against tuberculosis.
