It has been shown that introduction of vitamin D3 in vivo leads to activation of mBD-2 mRNA expression in healthy lung tissue of mice. It has been demonstrated that in 3LL cells Muc-1 mRNA is expressed at stably high level, so that one may consider Mucin1 as tumor-associated antigen in this particular model. Experiments in vivo have demonstrated an efficacy of immunotherapy of experimental Lewis lung carcinoma with the use of cancer mBD-2-Muc-1-DNA vaccine, especially upon its prophylactic administration in combination with vitamin D3 treatment, that has been reflected in significant antimetastatic effect and elevation of average life span of vaccinated animals. It has been shown that administration of mBD-2-Muc-1-DNA-vaccine leads to significant activation of cellular immune response and moderate activation of humoral immune response.
