Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 The work performed was accompanied by evaluation of sensitivity of metal of nickel alloys and martensitic high-alloy steels to hydrogen-induced embrittlement. The pressure chamber with hydrogen gas under a pressure of 25 MPa was used for investigations. It was shown that ductile characteristics of nickel alloys N70M-VI, Inconel 690 and KhN55MBYu decreased at room temperature under the effect of hydrogen. An assumption was made concerning the mechanism of brittle fracture, which is based on a substantial effect of plastic deformation on the processes of hydrogen mass transfer, its concentration in locations of imperfect crystalline structure and fracture. Additional doping of the In 690 type alloy with nanoparticles of yttrium oxide provides complete prevention of brittle fracture at temperatures of 20°С.
