The schemes and modes of welding, which provide defect-free formation of facial and reversible bead weld, were given. Penetration and butt welding of alloy ВТ20 plates with dimensions of 17х100х330 mm were performed, using the machine KL-138 with computer control of the construction (produced by E.O. Paton Electron Welding Institute of the Academy of National Sciences of Ukraine) with the power-generating complex on the basis of ELA-60/60 and the electron-beam gun, which moves inside the vacuum chamber along the linear coordinates Х,Y,Z.It was shown that defect-free formation of a welded joint on titanium alloy ВТ20 up to б=17 mm thick at EBW with through penetration can be achieved at the schemes of welding by a horizontal electron beam with the gun movement from the bottom upwards, from the top downward and in line. The recommended schemes of welding and the developed modes of titanium alloy ВТ20 EBW permit to exclude the mechanical treatment of facial and reversible bead welds.
