It has been found that freshwater algae adapt to various abiotic and biotic environmental factors through special physiological and biochemical mechanisms, including their enzymatic systems. It has been found that in the Kaniv reservoir the formation of periphyton algae communities depends to a large extent on water mobility, its temperature, and also on the type of substratum.
