The investigation of growth, apoptosis and autophagy regulation in malignant cells is important for determination of novel targets of anticancer drugs and development of antitumor strategies. We revealed the constitutive high expression of iNOS in control lysates of WM1158 cells both under arginine (Arg) starvation and in Arg-rich medium. After 24 h of cell incubation in the presence of iNOS inducers, increased expression of both iNOS mRNA and protein was observed. Complete drop in iNOS activity upon treatment with NOS inhibitors was detected. However, the activators of inducible NOS synthesis did not affect its activity in both Arg-rich and Arg-deficient medium.
