The purpose of work is to show historical and cognitional value of journalistic works and works of arts of Ukrainian socio-political figures and writers, their correspondence on the basis of research of correspondence between E. Chykalenko and V. Vynnychenko, S. Efremov and A. Nikovsky, to expose its value as a historical source, to complete preparation for publication the collections of documents, monography and articles. Research methods: scientific heuristics, classification and criticism of sources, textual criticism. It is found out that journalistic works, works of arts and correspondence contain important, sometimes unique information about socio-political and cultural life in Ukraine of the first third of the 20th century, reflections of authors about forming of Ukrainian nation and prospects of consolidation of the own independent state, about the perception of the Ukrainian culture in Europe, about the ways of development of the Ukrainian literature in context of the world literary process. The publication of these sources will extend a base of historical and literary researches, will assist the maintainance of historical memory of people and help to realize the value of written historica and cultural legacy.
