Combustion of sunflower seed husks and forestry residues were examined using derivatographic method. This method allows to measure the temperature, the change in mass (thermogravimetry) and to fulfill differential thermal analysis (DTA) of the substance depending on temperature and duration of heating. It was found that the burning of sawdust, straw, husk is accompanied by a relatively small amount of heat and the large number of volatile substances. As a result of this fact complicates control of the combustion process, complicated by the required dosage, as well as the need arises in a large areas for storage and problems with transportation. It was elaborated the technological essentials for the use of bioresidues of agricultural production as a fuel in pyrometallurgical processes and agglomeration. Studies have verified the advantages of bioresidues using as fuel and reducer in the aglomeration and pyrometallurgy, namely: -Replacement of fossil fuels, which include scarce valuable coke and natural gas. -Reducing of overall emissions of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. -Reducing of the contents of harmful elements (S, P, B, As, and etc.) upon receipt of clean steel products. Investigations have concluded that: the direct use of biofuels in the pyrometallurgical technologies can be more efficient from the energy point of view than any other existing methods - incineration, gasification and pyrolysis.
