Information × Registration Number 0210U004064, 0107U002680 , R & D reports Title The investigation of synthetic porphyrins interactions with microorganisms cells popup.stage_title Head Galkin Boris Nikolayovich, Registration Date 11-02-2010 Organization Odessa I.I.Mechnikov National University, Research Institute "Astronomical Observatory" popup.description2 It is shown for the first time that the number of synthetic mesosubstituted porphyrins inhibit the growth of collection strains of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, such as E. coli, S. enteritidis, P. vulgaris, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, B. subtilis. Experimental results about synthetic porphyrins influence on the bacterium Ag. tumefaciens FA2, that cause grape disease, have been obtained. It has been shown that porphyrin free bases don't have an effect on E. coli, whereas their complexes with metals are good growth inhibitors of this bacterium. The results about photodynamic activity of synthetic mesosubstituted porphyrins metal complexes have been obtained. It has been determinated that 5,10,15-tri(N-methyl-4-pyridil)-20-(n-nonyl)-porphyrin tritosylate, 5,10,15-tri(N-methyl-4-pyridil)-20-(n-hexadecyl)-porphyrin tritosylate and their zinc complexes are able to use the cyanocobalamin transport systems of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria for entering the cell. The compounds 5,10,15-tri(N-methyl-4-pyridil)-20-(n-nonyl)-porphyrin tritosylate, 5,10,15-tri(N-methyl-4-pyridil)-20-(n-hexadecyl)-porphyrin tritosylate and their zinc complexes have an influence on gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria sensitivity to tetracycline. It is proven that tin and manganese comlexes of meso-tetra-(4 methyl-pyridil)porphyrin are able to destroy biofilm. The influence of Sn(MP)TPP is depend on concentration. Sn(MP)TPP depresses the synthesis of acid mucopolysaccharides, wich are important adhesive components of P.aeruginosa mucus. It is first time shown that and manganese comlexes of meso-tetra-(4 methyl-pyridil)porphyrin are able to decrease the activity of total dehydrogenases and succinate dehydrogenase. The activity of this compounds is depend on their concentration.
