Assessment of present-day technical condition of capital equipment and technologies, which are characterized by waste energy generation, was carried out and proposals to optimum use of waste energy in mining-metallurgical complex of Ukraine were developed. While investigating we established that iron & steel enterprises of Ukraine have large enough potential of waste energy use. Thus, introduction of gas-turbine power stations of the combined cycle at JSC "Alchevsk Integrated Iron & Steel Works", JSC "Dneprovsky Integrated Iron & Steel Works named after Dzerzhinsky" enable reducing ~35 % of fuel-energy resources consumption where appropriate and ~70 % regarding total reduction in mining-metallurgical complex, in case of implementing actions aim at increasing degree of waste energy use. Implementation by the enterprises of actions on waste energy use, planned according to the investment programs of updating, will enable decreasing fuel-energy recourses consumption by ~ 2740 thousand t /year.
