Comparison of Ukrainian and European normative documents for natural gas quality has been done. Methods for determination of main energy property of natural gas - heat capacity was analyzed. Analysis of modern methods for heat capacity determination of gas, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as up-to-date world achievements done gave reasons to conclude on crucial need for development of new method for natural gas energy properties determination. Review of main energy properties of gas was done in order to understand its influence on its quality. In order to selected optimum quantity of informative parameters for determination of heat capacity correlation and graphoanalytical techniques has been applied. Based on results of correction analysis was found that there is no need to determine the full composition of natural gas, but only speed of sound in gas and content of nitrogen and carbon dioxide would be enough. Investigation of the proposed method for determination of energy properties of natural gas using artificial neural networks confirmed results of correlation analysis. Methodology of experimental investigations for proof of the developed method for determination of energy properties of natural gas has been developed in order to establish relationship between heat capacity (energy property) and physical-chemical parameters (speed of sound, carbon dioxide and nitrogen content). Experimental investigations which were done confirmed correctness of theoretic conclusions.
