Additions of carbon and IMC improve parameters of mechanochemical synthesis of magnesium hydrides during milling in hydrogen atmosphere. The crystal structure of new Mg-based hydrides/deuterides has been studied. The synthesized Mg3MnNi2D~3 deuteride is shown to decay on air forming deuteride with lower hydrogen contents. The crystal structure has been refined for the formed Mg3MnNi2D~1.8 deuteride basing on powder neutron diffraction data and positions of D atoms in unit cell have been determined.
