Oxide and sulfide materials, which are characterized of high photo- and catalytic activity are exposed. It was found that the semiconductor systems can be used as effective photocatalysts and catalysts of dark (thermal) redox transformations. The process of the constructions of the nanostructure systems based on CdS have been designed. It's provides a management of ability of the nanostructure systems to operate as photocatalysts. New photocatalytic systems for sensitizing the cyanine-coated dyes heterostructures based on TiO2 to the light band with 400 nm have been synthesized and investigated. The mechanism of catalytic action of these materials are found and analyzed.
