In accordance with the program of radiation-ecological inspection of the Safonivske deposit site and adjoining territory, the following works were executed within the research: - dosimetric gamma-radiation survey of the site territory and the control area; - research of the flora and fauna, the avifauna migration ways in the location of the Safonivske deposit. The list of types of plants and animals that are subject to the special protection is given. Historical and cul-tural sites, objects of the natural-protected areas were revealed on the territories ad-joining to the deposit. The status of biodiversity was estimated and recommenda-tions on its preservation were given; - determination of natural radionuclides con-tents in the samples of the air, vegetation and food stuff; - radon survey of the site's territory and the control area. From the results of the research, the indexes of the background status of the environment components were established for further es-timation of the Safonivske deposit development impact.
