Effective and affordable, now existing, but not yet standardized, is a method for determining genetic purity of the genotypes of wheat, barley, maize, sunflower by using DNA-typing. Application of the standard will provide: - much shorter period of determination of genetic purity of seeds by contemporary international standards requirements; - conduct analysis on genetic purity in urgent need of definition; - identify the genetic purity, when other common traits were exhausted and genetic purity has not been proved. Application of the standard will provide: - Quality control of genetic purity of seeds of wheat, barley, maize, sunflower in breeding and seed production institutions in the process of seed production and seed control. - Implementation of standards will positively affect the development of the agricultural biotechnology industry. GSTU will regulate works on the definition of genetic purity of the genotypes in DNA-typing, taking into account domestic and international experience. Introduction of this standard will enhance the reliability, performance and objectivity of the assessment of genetic purity of seed material in the areas of plant breeding and seed production.
