On the basis of experimental simulation the parameters of radionuclide migration in the rocks-analogues of probable repository environment were determined. The investigation of industrial uranium deposits of Ukraine was performed, the conception of deep repository for high-level nuclear fuel in the Pre-Cambrian and phanerozoic geological formations of Ukraine was developed, the system-informative methodology of mineralogy-geochemical researches at the search stage of creation of RAW deep repository was grounded, and the complex geochemical criteria in order to estimate its safety were developed. Methodology of scientifically substantiated choice and creation of new mineral-like materials (synthetic analogues of minerals) aiming for immobilization and further isolation of high-level waste within a deep repository were developed. The synthesis of matrices was made for the first time based on holandite, zirconolite, pyrochlore and garnet by thermal treatment method of coprecipitated components; the mechanisms of their formation were determined, the chemical and phase composition of matrix phases, structural features and isomorphous capacity to the elements-imitators and stability in the powerful ?-radiation fields and water at elevated temperatures which determine their suitability for practical use were brought to light. The corrosion processes going on in different materials of containers (copper and steel) and interaction between the products of corrosion and clay barrier (bentonite) in the system of barriers of RAW repositories of near-surface and deep types were investigated; the change in properties of clay barriers as a result of the second mineral formation on the metallic container (tank) - clay barrier boundary was confirmed. The properties of new barrier materials (geosynthetic compositions) to be used in the system of engineering barriers for RAW repositories were created and studied and the mechanisms of guarding against radionuclides (Cs and Sr) were investigated on the geosynthetic compositions of filmy and volumetric types. The model building of migration processes on the created compositions was made and recommendations in relation to their use were stated.
