The generation of drug-resistant HIV-1 variants in Ukraine was determined. The virologic failure of HAART was detected in 4.81% patients who receive HAART during 6 months, in 1.27% patients who receive HAART during 12 months, and in 3.13% patients who receive HAART during 24 months. In the most of cases the virologic failure of HAART was related to low adherence of patients to therapy. In Ukraine the dynamic change of structure of HIV population in connection with formation of circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) of HIV is taking place. The technology of obtaining and storage of dry blood spots (DBS) of HIV-infected persons was developed for realization of molecular-genetic investigations.
