This study indicates the heterogeneity of population immunity and its low immune background. The immunobiolological properties of rabies virus vaccine strains were studied in comparative aspect. The most sensitive cell cultures for the virus reproduction were identific. Virus reproduction cycle, virus amplification, pathogenic, antigenic and immunogenic properties were studied. Strain Scholkovo K-51 was adapted to cell culture SK. It was collected 892 samples of pathological material from 14 animal species and human from 23 regions of Ukraine and Crimea. The RT-PCR method with primers complementary to nucleotide sequences of the nucleoprotein gene of reference rabies virus strain CVS was developed for rabies virus field isolates molecular genetic studies. It was studied 76 rabies virus isolates using this method. The investigations made it possible to divide circulating isolates into two genetic variants: "CVS-like" and "different from CVS". Territorial ranking of genetic variants of rabies virus and study of their relationship with the epizootic situation showed that rabies virus genetic variants "different from CVS" are circulating at the Left-bank Ukraine, "CVS-like - at the Right-bank Ukraine, mainly in the area with low intensity of the epizootic situation. It was developed "The method of rabies virus brain suspension obtaining" which is protected by useful model patent of Ukraine. Five scientific-methods materials was developed and approved by the State Committee of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine. The branch "Program of sanitation of the territory of Ukraine from rabies" was developed. This program was approved in a joint order of the State Committee of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences.
