Subject of inquiry is the public support and stimulation of the innovation activity. Subject matter is the effectiveness of application of the mechanism of the state support and stimulation of the innovation activity in developed countries. The goal of the research is to estimate the effectiveness of application of the mechanism of the state support and stimulation of the innovation activity in Ukraine and to research the same mechanisms in developed countries. Research methods are: scientific abstraction, structural, functional, analysis and synthesis, summarizing, historical, statistic, factor method. Theoretical and practical results of the interim report are: conceptual approaches to the national innovation system's formation are searched; the international experience of the implementation of public support and stimulation of the innovation activity mechanisms in developed countries is summarized; trends and problems in the development of innovation activity in Ukraine are discovered; the methodical approach to the analysis of the effectiveness of innovation activity's public support and stimulation in Ukraine is developed; the estimation of the relative efficiency indicator for Ukraine is realized. The practical significance of this interim report lies in a possibility of use by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine for the preparation of legal acts and program papers.
