Object of research: non-bank financial institutions (insurance companies, credit unions, non-state pension funds, pawnshops, factoring, leasing and financial companies). A number of scientific and practical results were obtained in the process of research. The refinement of theoretical and methodological approaches to the location and potential role of non-bank financial institutions in the financial system and their influence on socio-economic development was carried out. In the process of analysis of non-bank financial institutions development it was discovered that in spite of these institutions product particularities they have many similar problems of establishment and development. The basic problems preventing from dynamical development of non-bank financial institutions were identified, in particular, low level of capitalization, high dependence on the bank crediting, problems with liquidity, low level of activity efficiency, insufficiency of resources investing directions because of fund market underdevelopment and investment attractive financial instruments deficiency, low level of people trust to the financial services market, insufficient informative transparency and level of financial information uncovering. It was proved that in the conditions of financial instability, the main tasks of non-bank financial institution managers should be a revision of investment strategy, measures of liquidity increase, capitalization increase, development of new competitive products, optimization of business processes management. The recommendations concerning the development of the national rating system of non-bank financial institutions and estimation of their activity are proposed. In the process of analysis of accounting peculiarities in non-bank financial institutions the contradictions in some parts of regulatory and legal acts and lack of methodical recommendations concerning accounting in some types of non-bank financial institutions were determined. The use of accounts and sub-accounts systems of lower degree and organization of the analytical accounting for the complete reflection of information about non-bank financial institution activity are justified. The methodology of non-bank financial institutions auditing that concerns providing acceptable level of auditing risk, financial information privacy, external and internal firm control of auditing services quality is recommended.
