During the reporting period the database directory of the infrared spectra of natural, treated and synthetic gemstones was greatly expanded. The initial stage to determine the list, sequence, contents of the relevant expert examinations and the infrared spectra analysis techniques was begun. The instrumental examination technique of natural and irradiated topazes on the basis of the infrared spectra was developed.
