The goal of research – to establish the effect of structural changes and the degree of bulk degradation of structural ferromagnetic materials on the magnetoelastic acoustic emission signal generation and to develop the methodological fundamentals and to engineer the instrumentation for location of the local degradation employing the theoretical and experimental studies. In order to achieve the objective of this project the theoretical study has been conducted which concerned with the relationship between the 90°-domain wall jump in the bulk of ferromagnetic material and the displacement of the half-space surface caused by this jump (magnetostrictive effect). The algorithm for evaluation of stress intensity factor in the vicinity of crack-like defects in ferromagnetic material under the influence of external magnetic field has been synthesized. The experimental work has been conducted to quantitatively evaluate how the parameters of magnetoelastic acoustic emission signals depend on structural changes and on the degree of bulk degradation of structural material. The instrumentation that employed magnetoelastic acoustic emission signals for detection of local degradation of ferromagnetic structural elements has been engineered.
