The topics considered in this work are normative documents in the area of natural gas composition and calorific value measurements; metrological characteristics of the available measuring instruments; accuracy of the reference data on calorific value of hydrocarbon constituents of natural gas. Proposals are made concerning the structure scheme of primary reference gas calorimeter and the traceability chart for natural gas calorific value measurements.
