Аim of research is to select variety samples - valuable genetic sources by breeding characteristics; to reveal the character of the inheritance of the economic features of red, hybrid and white clover; to select perspective initial material and on its basis - new high produc-tive varieties with the increased environmental, disease and pest resistance. Methods of research are hybridization, polycross, selection, hybridological analysis. According to the results of the study of 190 collection variety samples valuable genetic sources of red, hybrid and white clover are selected by the eco-nomic characteristics. The character of inheritance of quantitative and qualitative indices of red clover is established. Perspective initial material for further breed-ing, formation and submission for the state trial of new high productive varieties of red clover - Politanka (2009) and hybrid - Viliya (2007) is obtained. Variety Politanka provides the yield of dry matter of 11,5-12,9, seed - 0,35-0,45 t/ha. Protein content in dry matter is 20,5, cellulose - 22,5 %. It is resistant to root rots, ascochyta-leaf spot and anthracnose. Variety Viliya forms the yield of dry matter of 10,8-12,9 and seed - 0,3-0,4 t/ha. Protein content in dry matter is - 20,9-21,3 and cellulose - 22,1-23,4 %. It is characterized by productive longev-ity and resistance to powdery mildew and anthracnose. Selected varieties are submitted for the state trial. Both varieties are recommended for cultivation in the zones of Polissya and Forest-Steppe in hay-making and pasture type of use.
