Aim of research is to determine breeding value of pea variety samples of different morphotypes and genetic structure of their quantitative economic characteristics, and on this basis breed new high productive varieties of grain-forage type with the increased seed quality, resistant to unfavorable biotic and abiotic factors of the environment, suitable for harvesting by direct combining. Methods of research are intraspecific hybridization, chemical mutagenesis, selection. Estimation of 32 variety samples of peas of different morphotypes is carried out as well as deep genetic-breeding research of high productive varieties by the main economic characteristics using the method of estimation of the combination ability and genetic analysis of Gings-Heiman. Varieties-donors engaged in hybridization in order to breed high productive varieties of grain forage type are selected. New lines having better indices are selected by a complex of economic characteristics. Perspective initial material of semileafless morphotype that is going to be investigated in the nearest years is obtained by the method of chemical mutagenesis. Perspective breeding numbers 49/23 and 45/11 which, according to results of the competitive variety trial (2009-2010), provided annual yield of grain at the level of 3,65-3,81 t/ha, that is 0,35-0,43 t/ha more than in the standard variety Tsarevich are selected. They are characterized by high technological effectiveness of harvesting. They are planned to be submitted for the state trial in 2011 and 2012.
