Aim of research is to study collection variety samples of different species of perennial cereal grasses in conditions of the Forest-Steppe to select some of them by the green mass productivity, resistance to soil acidity and salinity, pests, diseases and frosts; to get on their basis perspective breeding material and new varieties with certain parameters. Methods of research are field in the zones of Forest-steppe (Vinnytsia) and Steppe (Askania-Nova Kherson region), hybridization, polycross and selections. According to results of researches the following species are con-sidered to be the most perspective in dry conditions: Elimus trachycaulns (Link) Could et Shinners (Agropyron tenerum Vasey), Elytrigia intermedia (Host) Nevski (Agropyrum intermedium (Host) P. B.), Festuca rubra L., Euagropyrum Nevski, Koeleria gracilis Pers., Bromus riparius Rehm and Festuca rupicola Heuff. (F. sulcata Hack.). Some variety samples of the mentioned species are selected by the complex of economic characteristics. On their basis perspective initial material is obtained and varieties of Elytrigia intermedia (Host) Nevski (Agropyrum intermedium (Host) P. B.) - Horth (2008), Elimus trachycaulns (Link) Could et Shinners (Agropyron tenerum Vasey) - Columb (2008), Festuca rubra L. - Ayra (2008) and Casandra (2009) are bred and submitted for the state trial. Variety Horth belongs to hay-making type with yield of dry matter 9,0-10,0 and seed - 0,6-0,7 t/ha. It is registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine for 2009 and recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Steppe zones. Variety Columb belongs to hay-pasture type with yield of dry mat-ter 9,0-10,0 and seed - 0,5-0,7 t/ha. It is recommended for cultivation in the For-est-Steppe and Steppe zones. Variety Ayra belongs to hay-making type with yield of dry matter 5,0-6,0 and seed - 0,6-0,8 t/ha. It is suitable for fastening of slopes, dams and autobahns. It is registered in the State Register of Plant Varie-ties of Ukraine for 2010 and recommended for cultivation in the zones of Polis-sya, Forest-Steppe and Steppe. Variety Casandra belongs to lawn type. It is char-acterized by short plants and high decorative value. Its seed yield is 0,5-0,6 t/ha. It is resistant to brown rust. It is recommended for cultivation in the zones of Polissya, Forest-Steppe and Steppe.
