This opens up good prospects for substantiation of the critical state of degraded metal and implementation of this approach to assess the technical condition of the exploited metal based on results of short tests on the static fracture toughness. By fractography the features of hydrogen influence, absorbed by Steel 20 during its high-temperature exposure in hydrogen, on the fracture mechanism during tensile and longitudinal displacement tests of smooth cylindrical specimens with cracks were revealed.
