The subject of study: immobilized biofilms on carriers of different chemical nature; processes of water biological self-purification; processes of water purification from surfactants. Investigation methods: analysis of available experience concerning immobilization and operation of immobilized microorganisms on different carriers; experimental study of biosorption on stepped bioreactor with fibrous carrier; analysis of biofilm specific composition; study of equilibrium adsorption of nonionic surfactants. The tendencies of biofilm formation are shown, the structure characteristics and factors, which have an influence on formation immobilization process, are considered. The effect of carriers chemical structure on biofilm formation is considered and advantages of the activated carbon use as carrier are shown. Influence of the physical characteristics of activated carbon surface on biofilm formation is considered. Data relatively specific biofilm composition and methods of biofilm investigations are given. The possibilities of water biological self-purification are investigated on step-by-step bioreactor with fibrous carrier for immobilization microorganisms. Equilibrium adsorption of nonionic surfactants was studied on activated carbon as first step in biosorption process investigation under dynamic conditions.
