Goal: to develop initial material with a high level of tolerance based on the assessment of tolerance to BYDV. Results. Viral concentration and development of symptoms has been proved to little influence on winter wheat tolerance to BYDV, where as the decrease of head productivity to be the main indicator. The possibility of combination of increased tolerance to BYDV with a sufficiently high level of performance has been shown. Diallel analysis of inheritance for tolerance to BYDV has been carried out; genotypes with high general and specific combining ability for this trait have been identified. Genotypes Kalynova and Lutescens 54 527 are proved to be tolerant to BYDV and would be used in wheat breeding for tolerance to BYDV.
