Semenenko Institute of Geochemistry, mineralogy and Ore Formation popup.description2 The most interesting to discover copper deposits in Ukraine prospective districts are localized in the territory of the North-Western Donbass and Volhyn. Copper and complex copper-nickel sulfide deposits can be found in the Ukrainian Shield. Difference in type of numerous ore showings, contrasting age and conditions of the ore localization resulted in local and contrasting parameters which determine different ore type distribution in the ore district studied, often dependently on genesis and rock composition of geological formation which comprise the ores. In the North-Western Donbass the ores are controlled by faults with minor offset within reducing gray interbeds dividing oxidizing red-bed strata but the ore mineral composition depends on carbonate content in the grey horizons. In the Volhynian trappean formations, copper ores are controlled by fault zones containing hydrothermal mineralization ogf calcium aluminosilicates (pumpellaite, prehnite, wairakite and laumontite), and preferentially localized in permeable varieties of the volcanic beds. In the Ukrainian Shield, the major principle of the distributions is dependence on metamorphic and magmatic formations with the respective genetically connected ore showings.
