Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 We studied molecular biological changes in MCF-7 human breast cancer cells and A2780 human ovarian cancer cells phenotype durin acqusition of resistance to cisplatin and doxorubicin. On this model we showed that use of different cytostatics caused different mechanisms of drug resistance development: resistance to cisplatin developed mainly due to antiapoptotic program, while resistance to doxorubicin — due to mdr1-dependent processes. The results of our study on clinical material showed that immunohistochemical analysis of proliferation, expression of adhesion molecules and proteins associated with drug resistance along with well-known routine methods could be used in clinical practice as molecular biological markers of prognosis, which characterize individual sensitivity of ovarian and breast malignant tumors to antitumor drugs and disease duration.
