The aim of investigations: to elaborate on the basis of modern methods of biotechnology criteria for creation and long keeping in vitro garlic collections without changing of their genetic constitution. It has been proved experimentally the effectiveness of the use of biotechnological methods for creation and maintenance of garlic collections in living condition. The method of long-term storage of sanitated meristematic garlic material in the conditions of cryogen temperatures (patent №22540) has been worked out and patented, allowing to preserve garlic collection samples (apical meristems) without transplantation up to 20yars, that is more economic from the point of view of using material and power expenses. The method of middle-long storage of garlic collections in conditions in vitro has been worked out. The cultivation of tube plants without transplantation at t° 24 °C in the medium. MS with the high saccharose concentration (up to 120 g/l) essentially slowed down the growth and ensured getting of 84,9 ±4,7 % of plants, possessing vital capacity after 12 months of storage. The stability of morphological indices, which the plants R-1 have, cultivated according to the elaborated methodology, with the initial clones, multiplied after standard technology, has been established. The active collection of garlic in vitro with the use of method of middle-term storage, containing of 41 variety samples of collection NCGRPU was created.
