The aim of investigations: to substantiate and elaborate the system of organizing of effective seed production of vegetable and melon plants in economic organizations of the market type on the basis of cost standards. The results of the investigations: scientifically - grounded system of effective organizing of vegetable and melon seed production in economic formations of market type on the basis of cost standards, which is grounded on the profound investigation of the mechanism of economically reasonable use of different kinds of resources and reflects the ways of raising of effectiveness of seed-growing branch of vegetable and melon plants. 15 cost standards have been worked out while growing vegetable and melon cultures seed, including possibilities of sort selection and separate elements of technology, that ensure the level of profitableness within 30-50 %, depending on culture. The elaboration introduction improves the cost structure of vegetable and melon seeds in the following way: it brings down the part of material expences from existing 72 % to 42 normative ones, increases the part of payment for work from existing 14 % to 38 % normative ones and raises the part of net profit from 14 % existing to 20 % normative. In general, it raises the economic effectiveness of seed production by 20 % and provides commodity producers of vegetables with native seeds in necessary quantity.
