Objects of research: insect: Orthoptera Brachycera, Eriosomatidae aphids; subfamily Harpactorinae reduviid bugs; beetles: darkling beetles, ground beetles, scarabs, Mordellidae, Scraptiidae and Rhipiphoridae, subfamily Oxytelinae rove beetles, subfamily Alticinae flea beetles, subfamilies Acicnemidinae, Mesoptiliinae, Pissodinae weevils; butterflies and moths: plutellid moths, bugworms; Noctuoidea ditrize moths, butterflies, tribe Pterocallini picture-winged flies; pirgotid flies. Objective: to study the fundamental taxonomic composition of insect fauna of Ukraine and adjacent areas, ecological and zoogeographic characteristics, phylogenetic relationships and speciation in the major groups of insects. Method of study: general entomological. Key Results: one new subfamily, 4 new tribe, six new genera and 47 new species are described. Species and generic composition of the investigated groups in the fauna of Ukraine is updated (brachycerous orthopterans, moth- plutellid moths, bugworms, butterflies, rove beetles, aciknemine, mezoptiline and pissodine weevils) Eastern Europe (eriosomatid aphids), West Palaearctic (harpactorine bugs), the entire Palaearctic (mordellid, skraptiid and ripiphorid beetles), Old World (flies pirgotidy) and the whole world (Pterocallini picture-winged flies and some genera of flea beetles. New diagnostic morphological and ecological features are found. Nomenclature of a number of species, subgenera and genera is updated. Keys to genera, subgenera and species (plutellid moths and bugworms, pyrgotid and picture-winged flies, flea beetles, mordellid, skraptiid and ripiphorid beetles), comprehensive classification (mordellid, skraptiid and ripiphorid beetles, pyrgotid and picture-winged flies) is provided. Morphoevolutionary character traits of eggs, larvae and pupae and their significance for the reconstruction of phylogenetic relationships (ditrize Lepidoptera) were found. Value of the food suitability for the formation of consortive associations in phytocenotic environment (herbivorous lepidoptera, mordellid beetles); current state of species diversity, damage and economic importance of phytophagous insects (butterflies, moths, aphids, weevils, scarab grubs and darkling beetles) is investigated. The results of these survey can serve the basis for studying many aspects of biodiversity of terrestrial ecosystems, as well as to address various fundamental and applied entomological problems. Key words: insects, orthoptera, bugs, aphids, beetles, butterfly, fly, fauna, systematics, morphology, phylogeny, ecology, phytophagans. Conditions of receipt of the report: in the public domain.
