The analysis of the operation mode of powerful CPU is given. It is shown that along with distributed heat flux, the hot spot with extremely high heat flux density exists in the CPU core. Considered is the possibility of suppression of the overheat in the processor core using thermoelectric micro-cooler (TEC) integrated into the CPU assemblage. The detailed analysis is given to the limit possibilities of this technology. The optimal dimensional and operation characteristics of micro-coolers are defined, corresponding to the maximum suppression of hot spots in CPU. For practical implementation of considered method, the technology of miniature TECs with the TE pellets as short as 0.13 mm is developed, which is prospective for spot cooling.
