Purpose: to investigate chromosomal instability in somatic cells of cancer patients who deny conscious contact with mutagenic factors, using the testing mutagenic exposure by bleomycin. Methods: cytogenetics, statistics. Results: With the help of modifying by us "G2-bleomycin sensitivity assay" hidden chromosome instability in patients with lung cancer who deny conscious contact with mutagenic factors had been evaluated. It had been shown that the addition to the background mean frequency of chromosome aberrations (above spontaneous cytogenetic effect) in the group of cancer patients was 44.6 and 53.3 per 100 metaphases (at concentrations of bleomycin 0.05 and 5.00 mcg/ml, respectively), which differed significantly (p<0.001) from that in group of apparently healthy individuals (9.14 and 14.31 per 100 metaphases, respectively). The broad intra-individual variations of induced cytogenetic effect in patients with lung cancer (8.20 - 109.25; 23.20 - 99.58 chromosomal aberrations per 100 metaphases at concentrations of bleomycin 0.05 and 5.00 mcg/ml, respectively) and the absence of positive correlation between background and induced frequencies of chromosomal damages had been established. In the group of cancer patients 53.3% of persons with hidden chromosome instability had been detected, which significantly (p<0.01) differed from that (33.3%) in the group of apparently healthy individuals.
